CALLIGRAPHY

I have been studying shodo (writing Chinese characters with a brush and ink) for over 7 years. You can see some of the artistic calligraphy done by my sensei, Umeki Yoichi, at Umeki-Sensei.

Here is a photo of one of our exhibits. Each of the students made one character on a sheet of thin wood. Mine is at the bottom, fifth from the left.

In the first class in January we do kakizome or the first writing of the New Year. Below are photos of my calligraphy teacher making an example for me to copy and some other students my class.
